 .: FOZ DO IGUAÇU
 .: USEFUL INFORMATION

The name Iguaçu means "big water" in Tupi-Gurani (a native Brazilian language), and designates one of the greatest waterfalls in the world. They are 275 distinct falls that plunge from varying heights over a two-and-a-half miles crest. Iguaçu Falls is the largest in the world in water volume.

The setting itself is idyllic, as the falls are in the center of a national park with trails and footpaths providing spectacular vantage points and settings.

The variety of excellent hotels and restaurants is so wide that you may have difficulty deciding where to stay and where to have your meals. Another advantage of Iguaçu Falls is its location on the border among Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. Therefore, in a couple of days, you can spend time in these three different countries.

 .: DESCRIPTION OF TOURS

Transfers in & out:
You will be awaited at the airport by our bilingual tour guide and taken in a deluxe vehicle to the hotel of your choice. On the way, you will have a briefing about the city and its points of interest. On the outgoing transfer, our guide will pick you up at the hotel at the appointed time toward the airport, where you will be assisted at check-in. Both transfers are normally done via Rodovia das Cataratas, the main road that is an obligatory route to reach other places in the region.

Half-day tour to Brazilian Falls:
You will depart from your hotel in a deluxe vehicle, passing through Iguaçu National Park for a visit to the museum of the park, with its exhibition of the local flora and fauna. Afterward, proceed to the falls. Once reaching Iguaçu Falls, we will stop for a walk, and descend the walkways, to contemplate the lovely waterfalls in all nature's exuberance, with a panoramic view over the Argentinian and Brazilian falls. Clients who are staying at Hotel das Cataratas will visit the museum and do the walking tour uniquely through the walkways.

Itaipu Dam tour:
After leaving the hotel, you will go through the city of Foz do Iguaçu. After a 35-km ride, we will reach the Public Relations Center of  the Itaipu Dam, located at the main gate of the power station. Then, the visitor will see a 30-minute movie showing the different phases of the construction, from the beginning until the present stage. After this, you will have time for photographs from strategic points.

Half-day tour to the Argentinean Falls:
Leaving from the hotel, cross the 480-meter long Tancredo Neves Bridge between Brazil and Argentina. After clearing customs control, already in Argentinean territory, we will enter the Argentinean National Park via the Federal Highway. Our visit starts at Porto Coroas, which gives us access to the majestic Devil's Throat. Next, we visit the upper Argentinean Falls, including San Martin Falls. On our return trip, you will have free time for shopping in the Argentinean commercial district. If time allows, we will see the Three Countries Mark, where Brazilian, Argentinean and Paraguayan borders can all be seen at the same time.

Paraguay Shopping tour:
We will ride about 30 km from the hotel to reach the Brazil-Paraguay border, passing by the town en route. We then cross the 533-meter long Friendship Bridge toward Ciudad del Este, a typical free port, where handcrafts and imported goods from all over the world can be purchased. Articles of excellent quality can be found, as well as imitations.

Macuco Safari Boat trip:
It is one of the most popular tours in the area. Leaving the hotel, we will head for the Iguaçu National Park, where we will board on Jeeps, the best means of transportation for the National Park, due to the fact that the road is unpaved, yet accessible all year round. On this trip, passengers will watch a variety of species of subtropical plants and trees, including the heart-of-palm, which grows abundantly here. With luck, animals and some of the beautiful birds of the region can also be watched. After 3-km Jeep ride; we go for a 600-meter walk through the forest toward the Macuco Falls and the banks of the Iguaçu River. Open boats with a capacity for 12 passengers and with outboard engines will cruise in full safety upriver in the middle of the Iguaçu Canyon to provide an unforgettable view over the Iguaçu Falls. If the level of the river allows, we can reach the very falls, where guests will experience a thrill to never be forgotten.
